Port Blair, Sept. 25: The ‘Grand Rozgar Mela’ which was scheduled to be organized on Sept. 25 at DBRAIT Auditorium by A&N Administration has now been rescheduled to Sept. 26, 2023 from 9 am at DBRAIT Auditorium to give Offers of Appointment to around 1000 posts of Group ‘C’ & Group ‘B (NG)’ for filling up vacancies in different Departments of A & N Administration.

Port Blair, Sept. 25: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has raised the issue of cargo transportation to the Great Nicobar Islands (Campbell Bay). In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma commended the continuous efforts of the Administration and the Directorate of Shipping Service for their regular operations of MV Sindhu and MV Nalanda, which have greatly benefitted the Islanders.

Port Blair, Sept. 25: The World Ozone Day, observed every year on September 16, is also known as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1994, commemorating the date in 1987 when nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The need to declare an action to preserve the ozone layer came as a result of the outset of its depletion. This special day aims to draw attention of everyone on this planet towards the usefulness of ozone layer, how it protects us from UV rays and how we need to protect it from damaging chemicals. The theme of World Ozone Day 2023 is “Montreal Protocol: fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change”. 

Port Blair, Sept. 25: The State-level General Body Meeting of the All India Democratic Women’s Association was held on 24.09.2023 at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair.  Inaugurating the Meeting, Smt Sudha Sundararaman, All India Vice President of AIDWA briefly explained the aims, objective and functioning of AIDWA in the country.  She said that ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, attack on women is increasing.  Referring to the attack on women in Manipur, she said that   women were raped, paraded and brutally killed under the BJP regime.   She said that BJP government has been protecting those who sexually exploit the women and cited the example of Brij Bhushan Singh who exploited wrestlers but no action has been taken against him. AIDWA conducted country-wide agitation against both the Manipur attack and Wrestlers issue. 

Port Blair, Sept. 25: Pankh Andaman in collaboration with Chinmaya Mission organised a seminar cum debate on the topic, "Are duties and responsibilities of youth obscured by rights" among various colleges of Port Blair on 23rd September 2023. Colleges including ANCOL, Law college, JNRM, DBRAIT, ITI, DEIT, TGCE were present in the seminar with a total of 120 participants. Dr. Nitin Shakhya director Social Welfare department graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
